From 1st July we are operating as REAL FOOD WORKS! - A Social Enterprise Company limited by guarantee.
What this means in terms of the services we deliver is no change and similarly, no change in our commitment to making the enjoyment of 'Real Food" accessible to all.
We started operating as Wansbeck Real Food in 2004 initiated, by a partnership which included; Wansbeck Healthy Living Centres, the ‘5 a Day’ initiative, Northumberland NHS Trust, Sure Start and East Ashington Development Trust.
It aims of the project were to address the issue of food poverty across Wansbeck by:

Awareness - Working with a wide range of organisations e.g. Healthy Living Centres, 5-a-day projects, to raise awareness of healthy eating issues and to try to address issues concerning attitudes and motivation and cooking skills. |

Access - Assisting in the setting up and support of community food cooperatives, where a group of consumers come together to organise the buying and distribution of fresh fruit and vegetables. Buying from wholesale suppliers and local producers to enable us to provide quality food at affordable prices. |
